I specialize in building websites for small businesses. Most of my clients are people that I know personally from meeting and networking at craft shows and events. Even if I may not know you, I'd love to build you a website!

some sites I've built:

Berries n' Bees (under construction) Midwest Water Solutions

What does it take to build a website?

Many people that I've talked to have told me they don't have a website because they think it's too complicated. What I find is that big web design businesses don't explain anything to the client. If you don't know everything about building a website, they don't explain it to you. I fell this is why a lot of small businesses come to me.

Domain name: A domain is what comes after "www". So for example, the domain name of this webiste is www.triciasbarkery.com. Websites can end in .com, .net. .info, .biz...and more! Check out Go Daddy for more examples. You can also use Go Daddy to find out if the domain you want is available. Generally, the cost of a domain is around $10 per year. You can normally register a domain for 1-10 years at a time.

Hosting: Hosting refers to the computer that stores your information so that people can access your site through the internet. Most sites that I build are hosted by Lime Flavored Hosting, aka The Computer Guy. Hosting with Lime Flavored Hosting is $12.95 if you would like to be billed monthly or $120 if you would like to be billed annually. Do you have more than one website? Discounts are available for hosting more than one site.

Building the site: I charge $50/page when building a website. A page is all of the information you see when scrolling up or down on the screen without clicking on anything. Everything you are reading right now from top to bottom is one page.

Maintenance: When I add, remove or change anything on your website it is considered maintenance. This is after your website is built and you are satisfied with the content. Maintenance is charged by the hour at $20/hour. There is no minimum when I bill for maintenance. For example, if I don't do any maintenance on your site for a month, I don't charge anything. If I do 10 minutes of maintenance I will charge you $3.34. You get the idea.

Other stuff: I have resources to do all kinds of great things on websites that isn't included in the $20/hour maintenance charges. Templates can be purchased to build your site from. If you don't have a logo one can be created. I can also provide other image creations, flash animation, forums & more! If there's something you have a question about just ask.

The success of any website depends HEAVILY on how involved the business owner (that is you) is. If you don't provide me content, I can't make a successful website. It's up to the business owner to provide things to put on the website, like pictures, prices, contact information, etc. And it is also up to the business owner to keep that information up to date.
